

Elinore Strommen, age 95, of Cable, WI passed away, June 15, 2014 at Ashland Health and Rehab Center. She was born March 12, 1919 in Beloit, WI to Jay and Florence Curtis. She married Walter Strommen in Rockford, IL in 1934. They farmed for 10 years in the Janesville/Beloit area. While Walter served in the army during WWII, Elinore moved into the town of Beloit with her two children. She worked at Fairbanks and Morris Co. in Beloit for 22 years. After Walter’s death in 1971, Elinore moved north to Lake Namakagon where she lived for 10 years. She then purchased a home in the town of Cable where she lived until moving to Whispering Pines apartments.
She was an active member of the Namakagon Club, Cable UCC Church and its Women’s Fellowship, Homemakers and Senior Citizens. She especially enjoyed dancing with her good friend Betty Giloy, and working with her beautiful flowers.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Walter, daughter Diane, son Paul and also by brothers Frank Curtis, John Curtis and sisters Vera Manthey and Iva Spangler.
