She was the daughter of the late Lyle Smith and Berneil Smith and was born in Long Beach California in 1943. She was a graduate of Ramona High School in 1961 in Riverside California and went on to study in secretarial trade school until she was married to her husband James Robert "Bob" Hamrick in June of 1964 and they were married for over 41 years until his death in 2005. One of the things she was known for was her perfect penmanship (even with those electronic signature pads), and her knitting and crocheting abilities with which she won numerous awards for including Best of Show at the Farmers Fair for her Moreno Valley High School Blue and Gold afghan that was entirely crocheted. Her greatest compliment came when she was disqualified for one of her entries into the Farmers Fair with the judges saying "this had to be made by a machine because it was too perfect"- She actually made the entire baby bonnet and baby sweater by hand knitting it entirely herself with no machines or aids other than her two hands. She also spent most of her years out on the little league field working as a volunteer scorekeeper at Peyton c. March Little League for over 12 years.
She is survived by:
James R. Hamrick Jr of Murrieta CA and his wife Karen Hamrick and their 3 children- Katie, Ryan and Evan, Kenneth Hamrick, Moreno Valley, CA and his wife Kimberly Hamrick and their 2 children Madison Welch of San Jacinto CA and Lindsey Hamrick of Moreno Valley.
