Barbara Ruth Hubbard was born to Ruth & Warren Hubbard in San Bernardino, California on June 22,1936.
She was the oldest of three, with middle sister Nancy, and the younger brother Gordon, both of whom are no longer alive. But Barbara has kept in touch with her sister Nancy’s daughter Zuri.
She was living in a big Victorian house with her parents behind the street where Al, his brother Eddie’s family, and his mother & stepfather each lived in separate houses. She attended Whittier High School and Fullerton College. She met Al at 19, and married him the next year in 1956.
In the early 80s they moved North to Paradise, California but later moved to Hemet to be closer to the house they built in Baja. They lived in Baja several months of the year. And as Barbara had learned and spoke Spanish fluently, she taught English to the residents. She also worked as a Tax Consultant during her time living in Paradise.
She and Al never had children, but were extremely close to Al’s daughters, Marta and Pat. They were with them every two weeks, without fail, and took them every Christmas to visit Al’s family, and also on camping and other trips.
Through the years they remained close, and reveled in being grandparents to Pat’s children, Joanna and Patrick. And even after Al passed away, Barbara treated them as a generous and loving grandma.
