

Barbara Beth Johansen, 88 of Hemet, CA, passed away on Monday, May 4, 2015, in Hemet, CA . Born Friday, May 7, 1926 in Chesterfield Township, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Gail Bulkley and the late Sylvia Taylor Bulkley.
Barbara was a Hemet resident for the past 64 years, having left Ohio for the West Coast and escaping Oregon for sunny Southern California. She enjoyed living close to mountains, desert, and ocean. She was an active member of United Methodist Church and was in the church choir. She was also a Girl Scout Troop Leader and was a member of Community Builders, Zonta International, Assistance League of Hemacinto, Communication Workers of America, Hemet Jeep Club, and a thirty year widow of the Ramona Pageant. Early she worked as Hemet United Methodist Church office manager and retired from General Telephone Company.
Barbara was pre-deceased by husbands Howard Bruner, long time employee of Nelson Machinery, Loomis Turkey Hatchery, and El Dorado RV and Byron Johansen, past San Jacinto Dairyman, Postmaster, and Past Master of Masonic Lodge.
Surviving are daughters, Nancy (Mike) McIntyre, Charlotte (Nick) Jones and five grandsons; Lane (Melissa), Clayton, and Shaun (Carolina) McIntyre and Jaeger (Julia) and Hamilton (Kimberly) Jones. She enjoyed her eight great-grandchildren. Also survived by best friend and neighbor for the past 24 years, Richard Day. The family extends their gratitude to caregiver and neighborhood friend Sylvia Antich for her dedicated and loving assistance to Barbara. She will be truly missed by all who had the honor to have known and love her.
Arrangements are entrusted to the care of Miller-Jones Mortuary, 1501 W. Florida Ave, Hemet.
