

BONNY LARUE HOLT, age 85 passed away on Tuesday January 20, 2015 in Hemet. Born on September 26, 1929 in Big Springs, Texas to Estel and Ora Holt. The family moved to California residing in Yucaipa. Bonny attended school in Redlands. He then served in the Army becoming a Sergeant First Class during the Korean War. He was a patriotic man, strong, brave and loyal to his country.
Bonny lived the cowboy life starting at a very young age first working on ranches eventually owning his own. He loved his rodeo life riding for pleasure, sport and for business. Steer wrestling and bull riding, winning many competitions including the 1971 IFR Championship in Tulsa, Oklahoma for team roping. Later in his life he trained and raced Quarter Horses and Thoroughbreds.
He worked within the Plumbing Industry for 50 years becoming the Owner of Hemet Valley Pipe and Plumbing Supply here in the valley for 37 years. He retired in 2002 and remained co-owner of the business with his son David.
He is survived by his wife Joan and his children; David (Theresa) Holt, Joyce Nicola and Cheryl (Larry) Kidd. Step children; Delbert, Craig (Katy) and Donai Deardorff. Thirteen grand children, thirteen great grand children, his siblings; Nelda (Sis), Lavon, Donna and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brothers Jake and Burlin.
He was a smart, hardworking, caring man with strong values. He had a good sense of humor and he loved to laugh. Competitive in nature and a spectator of sports. A cowboy poet and a teller of jokes. He played the spoons and harmonica, loved old country music, dancing with a girl in his arms and boy could he sing. He loved his family and his many friends. Lifelong friendships meant a lot to him.
