She was born in Loma Linda, California, the daughter of George and Guadalupe (Hernandez) Daugherty. She was preceded in death by her parents, step-parents Blainey and Louise Hernandez, son Steven Gonzalez, grandson Joey Nevarez, great-grandson Lazarus Ortega, sisters Estelle and Valerie and brother Blainey Hernandez.
Carmen is survived by her loving husband Eliodoro (Lolo) Gonzalez, daughters Terry Dulay, Christy Nevarez, Diane (Kris) Waggoner, son Mario (Linda) Gonzalez, nine grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
Carmen was raised in San Bernardino and graduated in 1949 from San Bernardino High School. In 1950 she married Lolo and they were together 73 wonderful years.
After Lolo's retirement they sold their ranch in San Bernardino and moved to a home in Hemet, bought a motor home and traveled the US.
Carmen enjoyed watching baseball with Lolo. Her favorite team was the Angels. She loved reading English mystery novels and watching BBC mysteries. She also loved music...Big Band, swing, and especially Dixieland jazz. For their 50th anniversary, they visited New Orleans and she was totally in her element.
Services will be held on Friday, June 30th, at Miller-Jones Mortuary, 1501 West Florida Avenue, Hemet, California. Visitation: 10:00 AM, Chapel services 11:00 AM. Reception to follow.
