Dan was an extraordinary musician and once asked me to play a duo gig with him at Mutt Lynch's bar near the Newport Pier. I think it was about 2003 or so. We played most of the Van Morrison type songs, and spent all of our down time talking about God and the Church, his favorite subjects that night, and he told me how glad he was that he had been given every sacrament that the Church required of him. His faithfulness to God and the Church were beautifully expressed and gave me a renewed appreciation of faith in Christ, faith in the Church, and for him as a man. It was very much a priestly moment for me. Thank you, Dan.
Much later we reconnected when our good friend Doug Doyle was diagnosed with inoperable cancer. Dan was by Doug's side practically the whole time, flying up to Idaho, driving with him to the clinic in Utah, staying naturally cheerful. Doug was lucky to have such a friend.
A kinder man I've never known, and he blessed so many lives.

My old friend Dan.  we shared 20 years of music.  First band I played in that actually got a job.  We played and were featured in "5 Summer Stories", a movie about surfing that he loved.  Little did we know that 5000 people showed up and we were stunned.   We played tother for 2 decades off and on.
     One of the most calm people I ever met.  Don't know if he was ever upset.  I will always remember you for a giant smile my friend.

I haven't seen or spoken to Dan Greyshock since I left Newport Beach circa 1980 but his memory is as clear as yesterday because he was a really good friend to a somewhat troubled kid(me).  He was a safehaven in a storm for me-he always welcomed me to either his home or his recording studio or to wherever he might be playing music.  He drove me to a gig  or two in a Dodge Dart if I am not mistaken(and I drove us home!)   He was a kindhearted easy going gentle soul and I am sure he will be greatly missed by all of his friends and family.  I can't tell you the name of too many people back from 1980 but Danny Greyshock is someone I have thought of many times for his kindness to me.

Danny was a dear friend of mine and a great person. We shared a house for awhile at Rancho Pulvo. I’d come home from work, and there was Budda, hooked up to his telecaster playing along with albums filling the house with good music. Dan Greyshock was one of the most kind, humble and gentle persons I've ever met. I have had the good fortune of knowing Danny for more than 50 years and his smile and demeanor could light up a room. This was an individual who was always positve and never had a bad word to say. He remains an example for all of us.

Danny played at our wedding in 1989 and as we all know music was his passion. We can take some comfort in knowing that he is with the angels above, in heaven, playing guitar while putting together a band.

Rest in Peace, my good friend.

Dan broke his leg falling down a cliff near his Dover Shores home in the Summer of 1968. As I remember him telling me, his leg was so badly damaged that it was not going to continue growing, so the ortho doc had to keep things even by preventing his good leg from growing. (I hope one of Dan’s siblings can confirm or deny this.) While still on crutches and constrained by his hot uncomfortable cast, he joined me on a trip to San Onofre for my first day of surfing.  He spent his convalescence practicing guitar. Later, his stunning progress inspired me to take music lessons. When his leg healed, he also became a better surfer than I. Dan was so easy-going... everybody loved him.
