On July 29, 2017, cherished husband, step-father, brother, uncle, and friend, David Neal Loper of Hemet, formerly of Redlands, CA, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family and his beloved books after a lengthy illness. He is survived by his wife of 15 years Connie Hall; his stepchildren Sarah Hall, Michael Hall, and David Hall; daughter in law Kayla Hall; son in law Michael Donato; and his four precious granddaughters Breanna Hall, Audrina Hall, Ashlynn Donato, and Paisley Donato; beloved Pekinese Sammy. Also survived by his sister Rachel Turner of Utah; nieces Meredith, Kelly, Chelsea, and Shannon. Treasured friends include Harriett Collier, Will Whelan, Dmitry Shultz, Tom Hall, and Tyrone Nugent.
David was a southern gentleman who was born in Montgomery County, Alabama to parents Dr. Steven and Mary Loper. Gifted at an early age with high intelligence, David went through life with a profound curiosity; one that led him to publish several books, and become a renowned antiquarian book collector in that literary field. David's greatest passion was his books. He loved the printed word and would travel the world over to find his latest interest. As a young man, David taught scuba diving, worked the ocean, raised baby gray African parrots, and went back to college in the early 90's where he met his wife, Connie. Later David went on to publish several books. One most notably by John Steinbeck in which he re-published and distributed among scholars who were desiring it to educate their students.
The family requests that a donation be made in his name to the Ramona Humane Society.
