Deanna Kim Florez was known to family and friends as Kim and Kimmy, and known to her grandchildren as Nana and Nanni. She passed away on October 16, 2024 at the age of 67, sharing her last breath surrounded by her children and eldest grandchildren. Kim was born to George and Elsie Castro in Salinas, California where her father was stationed in the army. Her parents and siblings moved to Hemet, California in 1973 where she lived the rest of her life.
Kim’s faith and her relationship with God was central to her life. She was very generous to different ministries and those who knew her. Kim was passionate about sharing the love of the Lord with others. Her faith community, The Dwelling Place and Community Christian Church, were of great importance in her life. Her most treasured faith community was her long time ladies Bible study group led by Fran Due.
Kim loved to spend time with family and friends by enjoying the simple things of life. She was always ready to share a cup of coffee or tea, sit for a meal together anywhere with good food, shopping just to look, and go to the movies. She loved trying new food, and singing praise to our Lord everywhere she drove.
Kim primarily spent her working years at Target, in Hemet, for 29 years. She loved her co-workers, but most of all she loved her guests. She cared deeply for them, and very often she would be praying with them during their transactions with her.
Kim was preceded in death by her parents, George and Elsie, and her youngest sister Karla Salem. She is survived by her sister Sonya, her brother George, her three children Deanna, Jared, and Raeanne, and the eleven grandchildren she adored: Lily, Gabriel, Phoenix, Brooke, Kaelie, Sam, Maizy, Addy, Asher, Afton, and Mia.
