

Dudley Dexter Varney, 79 of Hemet, California passed away on Tuesday, April 7, 2015, at The Village Healthcare Center in Hemet, California . He was born Tuesday, April 23, 1935 in Long Beach, California and was the son of the late Lester and Lila Alexander Varney. He was married to the love of his life, Marilyn Varney for 59 years. They had one daughter, Cheryl Lynn Dilbeck and grandson, Jacob Kyle Dilbeck. Dudley was a LAPD detective for over 18 of the 23 years he served and was involved in many famous cases prosecuted in Los Angles during the 60s,'70's and '80's. He was also an Eagle Scout. Dudley liked to garden after his shift to wind down a bit and relax. Dudley enjoyed camping and was known to take the family to all over, including Idyllwild and Death Valley. One particular time he lowered his daughter into a mine shaft to allow explore. He liked to play cards and exercise, often running before work with his daughter. He was an excellent photographer and the family has many photo albums of his work and family adventures. His family describe him as family oriented, strong, with a loving nature and quite demeanor. Surviving are daughter, Cheryl Dilbeck, , brothers, Greg Varney ( Kathy ) and Ron Varney ( Mary ), sister Donna Stevenson and grandson Jacob Dilbeck.
