Elzie Lee Palmer, Jr. was born to the late Elzie Palmer, Sr. and Willie Mae Ford, May 30, 1938. He attended school in DE Berry, TX and the Dallas metropolitan area. Elzie served a short stint in the United States Air Force. As a young man Elzie left Texas to pursue a career working on the Alaskan pipeline. In 1956, this dream was shortened when he ran out of money and settled in California. After securing employment, he enrolled in Los Angeles City College where he earned his high school diploma.
In 1985, Elzie married the love of his life Darlene who he affectionately called ''Honey". Together they raised five children. Elzie was a great provider for his family and worked for over 40 years as an over the road truck driver until retiring in 2004. Elzie enjoyed traveling with his family to popular sites such as the Grand Canyon, Yosemite, Hawaii, and other places. He loved his family.
He was a faithful, dedicated member of God's House of Favor Church for more than 25 years. While there he served in several areas of ministry including Head Usher, Deacon, and Elder. It would not have been unusual to be hugged and greeted by Elzie as he had the heart of the Father God. In 2009, Elzie graduated from the International School of Ministry with a concentration in Biblical Studies. He was an intercessor who loved to pray and read his Bible. In 2015, Elzie and Darlene joined Power House Church of God in Christ.
Elzie was an avid fan of the Los Angeles Lakers and the Oakland Raiders. He enjoyed good political conversations, western movies, donuts and most of all a combo meal from Jack in the Box. Everyone who came in contact with him was an automatic friend. He knew no strangers.
With his wife by his side, Elzie transitioned to heaven in the bedroom of their Moreno Valley home on April 21, 2016.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory, Darlene Palmer, his loving and devoted wife of 31 years. His children, Shanita Palmer of Las Vegas, NV; Bryan Gatlin of Riverside, CA; Tamara Gatlin of Riverside, CA; Crystal Lynn Palmer of Moreno Valley, CA; and Angela Palmer of Moreno Valley, CA.
