Fred was born in Neodesha, KS, on July 15, 1933, to Jeanette and Marvin Cohee. He enlisted at 17 in the United States Navy, proudly serving in Vietnam and Korea, until his retirement in 1972.
He had an infectious sense of humor and was the proud adopter of every stray dog in his locality. His homemade breakfasts of pancakes, eggs, and “crispy critters” were famous and beloved by all. He never met a stranger and went out of his way to help those less fortunate than himself, often stopping to help stranded motorists, with no thought of taking payment for services rendered. He will be greatly missed.
Fred is survived by Kathy, his beloved wife of 65 years, his brother Johnny, his sister Judy, his children Starla, Darla, Keith, Charla, Karla, and Bonnie. He is preceded in death by his son Billy and his daughter Marla.
If I should die before the rest of you,
Break not a flower, nor inscribe a stone,
Nor, when I’m gone, speak in a Sunday voice,
But be the usual selves that I have known,
Weep if you must:
Parting is hell,
But life goes on
So . . . sing as well!- “Sing Well!” by Joyce Grenfell
