

Fredrick Peter Thurn, known as Fred to most, passed away at the age of 81, on Saturday, September 12, 2020, in San Jacinto, California. He was born Friday, February 3, 1939, in Bowdle, South Dakota, also grew up in Minnesota. He was the son of the late Henry Thurn and the late Beth (Keen) Thurn. After obtaining his GED, he enlisted in the US Army and served for 3 years, from 1956-1959. Proudly serving in the US Army assigned to an Aviation Unit in Japan. After his discharge he moved to California, and worked as a bus driver for many years transporting Disneyland guests to/from airports. Later he owned and operated his own Big Rig truck hauling cargo for different companies for over 40 years. While balancing his job, he was also a dedicated husband to Margarite Rosas, father and step-father. He was a very patriotic person. He loved his country and the National Anthem. He was blessed with a beautiful daughter that would later make Fred a grandfather as well. His family loved his dry sense of humor. Fred's famous sayings were, "hit the road" and "que paso." He enjoyed watching NASCAR and golf. You could always find him working on his Big Rig, or his car, motorcycle, boat or trailer. Fred is survived by his daughter, Shawna (Henry Aguilar); Step-daughters; Rose Archer, and Evelyn McCuistion; his grandchildren, Shellby Aguilar, Sommer Aguilar, Henry Jr. Aguilar, Savanah Aguilar, Dennis McCuistion and Matthew Archer; his great-grandchildren, Avery and Luke McCuistion; and his brother, James Henry Thurn (Jean Thurn).
A Committal Service will be at 12:15 PM on Thursday at Riverside National Cemetery located at 22495 Van Buren Boulevard Riverside, California 92518.
