

Gary Earl Tidwell, passed away June 14, 2013, after a valiant fight to recover from a fall he had taken in Big Bear, CA. Preceded in death by daughter, Jaima Tidwell. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Eleta, of Menifee; daughter & son-in-law, Kari & Wythe Davis, of Carmel, CA; son & daughter-in-law, David & Sandi Tidwell, of Bishop, CA; and son & daughter-in-law, John & Sarah Tidwell, of Gilroy, CA; three grandchildren, Kristopher, Kaitlin, and Wythe; and sister, Janice Sparrer.
Gary was born in Pomona, CA. He spent his early years in Long Beach, graduating from Millikan High School, in 1959. Gary and his family moved to Temecula, in 1988, and in 1999, Gary and Eleta moved to Menifee Valley. He retired from a career in Club Management after 28 years. Gary managed both golf clubs and yacht clubs, and also worked for the Los Angeles Athletic Club. After Gary retired he was not ready to sit on the couch, so he had a second career working for the Temecula Valley School District.
Gary was known for his love of family, mentoring children and passion for fishing. Gary had a fun mischievous side and loved to tell jokes and stories to make people laugh. He appreciated playing pool with his father-in-law. Johnnie Miller. He enjoyed dinner and board games with his Friday night group of friends and shuffle board with his family & friends. He had an easy going attitude, but competitive spirit. He had been active with the Long Beach YMCA, for 47 years and with his church serving in leadership positions with both organizations.
A Celebration of Life event will be held on July 6, 2013, at 11 AM, at the United Church of Christ, located at 26701 McCall Rd, Menifee, CA. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to:
