Giuseppe “Joe” Lafata of Moreno Valley, California passed away on Monday, June 15, 2020, at the age of 86. He was born September 1, 1933 in Detroit, Michigan. He was the son of the late Pietro “Peter” Lafata and Sarafina Puleo Lafata of Cinisi, Sicily.
He served in the US Army from 1953-1955 and was awarded 3 medals during that time.
Joe was a family man who loved the simple things in life like good food and music. He had a kind heart, youthful spirit and contagious laugh. You couldn’t help but smile when he was around and family and friends could always feel his love. He enjoyed baseball and spending time with family.
His survivors are wife Josephine “Josie” Lafata, son Joseph Lafata, daughters, Kathleen Elkins, Connie Lafata-Holmstedt, Misti Woody, Deanna Thomas & Mary Toney; 12 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren.
Interment will be in Riverside National Cemetery, Riverside, CA on July 1 at noon. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Miller-Jones Mortuary.
