Our Father was graced with the gift of speaking five languages fluently: French, Basque, Spanish, German, and English, which he learned when he came to the United States in 1953 at the age of twenty-four. He met and married our most precious Mother, Jilvi Esmera in 1958. They built a wonderful family life raising their three children.
In 1963, they moved to San Jacinto where he began a job as a water operator with the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California. He worked at MWD for twenty-eight years until his retirement, a job he found very rewarding.
Our Dad has always been a very big hearted and generous person. He enjoyed being an usher at church for many years. He loved getting to know people everywhere he went. His jovial personality, robust voice and laughter filled a room, bringing smiles to everyone. Most of all, our endearing papa, cherished, loved and held his family dear to his heart, being there for all of us.
Our father is preceded by his beautiful and loving wife, our mother, Jilvi Esmera, to whom he was married to for fifty-five years. He is survived by his children: son Bill, daughters Yvonne (son in law Greg) and Henriette (son in law John), grandchildren Christina, Bryce, Sabrina and Tiffany, and three great-grandchildren, Barrett, Carter and Madden.
Our beloved dad, we treasure you and your love now, always, and forever in our hearts, until we’re together again.
