Harold C. Turner passed way on Thursday, September 20, 2012 at his residence in Hemet, CA. He was born on April 14, 1925 to James and Ruth Turner on a farm in Pigeon Grove Township, Iroquois County, Illinois. During World War II, Harold enlisted in the Merchant Marines to serve his country. After his time in the service he married and started his own electrical, plumbing, heating, TV and appliance business. For over 16 years, he was known as the only resident fix-it man for the entire farming community in and around Cropsey, IL. Harold and the family moved to California, in 1965, where beginning in the Huntington Beach oil fields and later to the oil rigs off-shore Santa Barbara, he worked as an electrician for the Standard Oil Company until his retirement.
Harold was the devoted and beloved husband of Nancy for the past 65 years, and the loving father of their two children, David and Barbara. He and Nancy enjoyed camping and traveling throughout the United States with their family and friends. They also enjoyed ballroom and square dancing. In his free time, Harold restored military jeeps and John Deere tractors. Harold was a very hard working man who built three of the homes his family lived in, two of which were in Washington following his retirement. They returned to California in 1998 to be closer to family. Harold had a great sense of humor and enjoyed being around family and many long fast friends. They are members of Hemet United Methodist Church.
Harold is survived by his wife, Nancy, children David (Maryanne) Turner and Barbara (Bill) Riale, his brother Robert (Colleen) Turner, 5 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.
