

Herbert "Herb" S. Schwacofer, was born May 6th, 1917, the son of Charles Schwacofer and Minna Schwacofer. He passed to eternal life on June 6th, 2011 at the age of 94. Herb graduated from Hemet High School in 1935. As a student he played the part of a Spanish dancer in the Ramona Pageant. He enlisted in the U.S. Army 18th Engineers in 1941. While serving in World War II, he worked to help build the AlCan Highway for 9 months and was then stationed on the Aleutian Islands for 3 �½ years. He was honorably discharged in September 1945. He worked in driver sales for American Bakeries (Lagendorf division) for 27 years. He loved his family, enjoyed golf, gardening (especially roses), and had a passion for working with wood. His hobby in retirement was making beautiful Intarsia pictures from exotic woods. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Raymond Schwacofer and sister Ruth Killian. He is survived by his wife Marian E. Schwacofer of 61 years, his son Steven C. Schwacofer (Chino Hills, CA), his daughter Lori K. Schwacofer (Smyrna, GA) and many nieces and nephews. All who knew him were touched by his life.
Arrangements are being handled by Miller-Jones Mortuary & Crematory Hemet , 1501 W. Florida Avenue, Hemet, CA. Celebration of life will be on Friday, June 10, 2011 at 11:30 AM. Interment will be at Riverside National Cemetery, Riverside, CA. Donations may be sent to Lutheran Social Services or charities that support the homeless.
