Howard Nelson McCurry Jr.

Howard Nelson McCurry Jr., age 87, of Perris, California, passed away, Sunday, July 27, 2014, in Hemet, California. He was born on Wednesday, June 8, 1927 in Lynch, Kentucky to the late Howard Nelson McCurry, Sr. and the late Della McCurry. He was the loving husband of Norma McCurry. They have celebrated more than 30 years together. Howard served his country honorably in the Navy. Prior to his enlistment in the Navy, Howard received 3 scholarships to play basketball for Universities. Instead, Howard enlisted in the Navy and played 4 years of basketball for the Navy. Howard loved all sports, but was an avid Los Angeles Lakers fan. His greatest joy was spending time with his family. He will be greatly missed, but forever loved.

Those left to mourn his passing, but cherish his memory is his wife, Norma McCurry; son and daughter in law, Howard McCurry III and Mitze McCurry;daughter, Linda Preece and son, Mike Henderson; grandchildren, Teri Kersten, Carisa Briska, Robert McCurry, Johnna Wright and Mark Franklin; great-grandchildren, Tyler McCurry, Kiana McCurry, Courtney Briska, Trevor Briska, Mackenzie Kersten, Connor Huedins, Steven Franklin and Uneak Franklin and a host of other family members and friends. Howard was preceded in death by his parents, Howard McCurry Sr and Della McCurry; first wife, Lujeanne McCurry and daughter, Lori McCurry.

Arrangements are entrusted to Miller-Jones Mortuary & Crematory - Perris, 1835 N. Perris Blvd., Perris, California. Funeral service will be at Cornerstone Community Church, 34570 Monte Vista Dr., Wildomar, California, at 10:00 AM, Tuesday, August 5, 2014.
