Ila “Nickie” Mae Henley, 89, of San Jacinto, California, went to be with the Lord Thursday, September 19, 2019, just after 2:00am, due to complications from a stroke. She is survived by her two daughters Kristine (husband Jerry), Kari (husband Lanis) and son James (wife Karen); five grandchildren, Jessica (husband Robert), Kammy (husband Larry), Ashley (husband Nathan), Jeremiah and Christopher; and one great grandchild, Cameron.
She was born May 29, 1930 in Chicago, Illinois but grew up in and loved San Diego, California. She was the daughter of the late Glenn and Klara Armstrong. Married to the late James Olen Henley (US Navy Retired) for 68 years before his passing August 18, 2018.
Nickie and Jim were long time members of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church located in Hemet, California where Nickie had many friends and served on the alter guild, craft guild, and sang in the choir. She was a talented seamstress, crafter, and spent many hours doing crochet, knitting and cross-stitch.
She loved her family, going on cruises, watching old movies and was a voracious reader infatuated with Egyptian and English history.
A celebration of Nickie’s life will be held at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church located in Hemet, California November 17, 2019 at 3:00 P.M.
