We had a complicated relationship. He was nine years older than me, gone elsewhere before I got to know him. He included me in some events when in high school but I was way too young for his crowd. We got to know each other a bit more as we aged, and kept in touch, but we would never be close as brothers, as sad as that is. We often sparred about what "thank you for your service" meant when America wasn't at war, it was friendly fire on my behalf, but he took it personally. Do I miss him? Yes, but only in the sense of "we should have spent more time getting to know each other better." But time, age and distance dictated that more than we could. Forever loved, memories never forgotten.

RIP dear Jack.  I have been remembering a time when we were both very young and boarded a plane and headed for Elmendorf AFB in Alaska.  That was 1968.  I am grateful for the time we shared over the next couple of years. Lost touch with you over the years but in reading these "shares"  I'm glad you have had a good life. Jack was a Fun-loving, sometimes mischievous 9th-Grader who earned his share of popularity throughout our HS years. Most teachers adored his antics, and he was a great INDIAN football team player and Track winner. 
He brought the ASSOCIATION to our 10-Yr. Class Reunion at RioMar Club, and continued to be an encouraging & supportive catalyst for subsequent gatherings. 
My last communication w/him was in June, when he said he was not doing well. He was an enduring fighter till the end, but seldom complained. 
My sincerest sympathies to his Wife & Family. Mortal Death is a mere transition to a far greater existence than our earthly bond can ever afford. Have no fear of it.

Having friends throughout our lives is a gift. Having a special friend that you share insurmountable memories and experiences is a priceless gift. 
Bill wrote about Jack’s amazing character, attributes and patriotism. It was was stated and deserved. We know Jack distinguished himself in many amazing ways. I will always think of Jack as that “Special Friend” another brother in my life.

Jake was a hero, a leader and a great friend. His examples of service to his country, community, classmates, and friends started even before high school. He had a great heart and championed many causes. He was competitive and driven. He loved spending time with family and friends. He was the kind of friend you knew if you needed him he would be there. Even in the face of his battle with cancer he was positive  he would win. Jack you are a hero and " a hero remembered never dies." The world is a better place for you my friend.

When I was in California and spending time with grandpa and grandma Janet watching ninja warriors it was a lot of fun!

One of my great memories with my dad was when we would take drives up to the Blue Ridge Mountains. I was probably around eight years old. We would stop to get hot apple cider and apple cider donuts. Man were those ever the best! When I am in the mountains here in WA and I see a place that sells that I stop and get it. The smells trigger great memories. My dad was the only person in my life who understood me. Especially as an adult. He would keep his word and not divulge things you wanted to keep private. I will miss him. Until we meet again! Love always!

You were taken away from us way too soon. There’s not a minute that goes by that I don’t think of you and miss you. Only peace I seem to find is knowing you’re no longer in pain. I love you so much. I will always cherish the wonderful memories we shared. Until we meet again.
