

James "Jim" Venable passed away with his family and friends by his side on a beautiful day, March 17, 2016. During the days prior to his passing, his family surrounded him with all their love. Jim was born on June 10, 1936 in Hemet where he was raised. He graduated from Hemet High School in 1954 and met and married the love of his life, Mary Venable, a San Jacinto native. Jim and Mary would have been married for 47 years this November. Together, Jim and Mary, raised 8 children; David (Dana), Robert (Susie), Vickie (Dennis), Mike (Michele), Michael (Julie), Jennifer and Theresa; they have 17 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren and a baby girl Eshe Moon due June 10. Jim's sister, Patty Fox, is living in Boise, Idaho. He was preceded in death by his son, Richard.
Jim built Hemet Valley Flying Service into a well-known aerial firefighting operation with his sons. Jim also built an off-road racing team that was very successful and he was one of the founders of Nascar Super Truck series. Jim served as a Hemet City Councilman for 2 years and Jim served as a 3rd County Supervisor for 8 years.
After Jim and Mary retired, they both served as volunteer look-out firefighters and worked diligently with family food service.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests to please send donations in Jim's name to the Ramona Bowl Amphitheater.
A celebration of life is to be held Thursday, March 24th at 11:00 a.m. at the Ramona Bowl, Hemet, California, followed by a reception at the patio from 12-2 pm .
