Joan Helen Adkins, age 80, of Temecula, California, entered eternal life on Thursday, May 2, 2013. She entered life, Sunday, July 24, 1932, in Albany, New York. Joan was the daughter of the late Joseph Burkart and the late Helen Burkart.
Joan was a business woman, a community volunteer, and a student of history. She shared her talents for 12 or more years, volunteering in both the administrative offices of the Riverside National Cemetery and the Temecula Senior Center. She loved to read and travel with Howard. In her travels, she cruised round trip to Hawaii, the Sea of Cortez, in Mexico, and many other land tours.
Joan is survived by her loving husband of 44 years, Howard Adkins; brothers, John and William Burkart; half-sister, Gerada Oshner; and cherished companion, Lucy Dog.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, May 13th, at 10:00 AM, in St. Catherine's Catholic Church located at 41875 C St.,, Temecula, California. Interment will be held privately in the Riverside National Cemetery, Riverside, California.
