

Jose Huerta Magallanes, known to many as "Chonito Huerta" went to be with the Lord at the age of 86, on Monday, November 1, 2021, in Hemet, California. He was born on Sunday, August 11, 1935, in Agua Gorda, Jalisco, Mexico, to Bartolome Huerta Perez and Sacramento Magallanes Godina, he was 1 of 8 children.
After retiring, Chonito enjoyed working his farmlands in Mexico and here in California. He was devoted to agriculture, especially the care of livestock and the production of crops. All his lands had special names and meaning to them. The Barranca, known as a deep arroyo with steep sides, was a place where there were family gatherings, barbecuing, and of course helping out feeding the farm animals, learning how to ride and fall off the bull, and most definitely assisting with some of the construction he had going. Chonito had a great love for animals. He was a strong, hardworking man that would never rest. He was blessed with 63 years of marriage to Margarita Huerta. They were blessed with 7 children that would later make him a grandfather and great-grandfather as well.
Chonito is survived by his wonderful and devoted wife, Margarita Huerta; his 6 children, Bertha Estanislao, Victor Huerta, Lourdes Bautista, Jose Huerta, Lucy Huerta, and Jaime Huerta; 21 grandchildren, Laura Estanislao, Franky Estanislao, Jessica Collins, Maggie Estanislao, Monica Estanislao, Kristina Estanislao, Evelyn Huerta, Sara Huerta, Darlene Huerta, Arnold "Grouchy" Bautista, Adriana Bautista, Angel Bautista, William Rodriguez, Destiny Huerta, Fernando Huerta, Refugio "Shorty" Galvan, Carlos Galvan, Jr Contreras, Isabel Contreras, Elias Contreras, and Christopher Huerta; 19 great-grandchildren, Aaliya Rico, Mya Collins, Mileena Collins, Marilyn Estanislao, Nathan Estanislao, Elvis Estanislao, Domonic Medina, Kalani Vega, Maxximus Nuñez, Nikkolis Cestaro, Madison Huerta, Delilah Aguilar, Xavier Bautista, Bentley Bautista, Khan Cantu, Liam Rodriguez, Nayeli Rodriguez, Elsy Vazquez, Aurora Contreras; his 3 sisters, Mari Estrada, Victoria Carrillo, and Virginia Lopez; and many nieces and nephews. Chonito was preceded in death by his parents, Bartolome and Sacramento Huerta; his daughter, Vavi Huerta; his siblings, Josefa, Dominga, Emiterio, and Mateo; his son-in-law, Francisco Estanislao; and his brother-in-law, Manuel Velgara.
Chonito was very devoted to the Virgin Mary which allowed him to go in peace. He will be missed by all that knew him and loved him.
