Joseph (Joe) Earl Batty was born on October 4, 1936, in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho to Clarence and Sylveen Batty. He was the ninth born of ten children. After attending Junipero Serra High School in Gardena, California, he enlisted in the US Navy and served his country. He eventually settled in Torrance, where he raised his four sons and worked at Reynolds Aluminum. During his career he also served as Union President. Upon retirement, Joe moved to Angels Camp, and eventually to Hemet to live with his son James.
Joe enjoyed watching baseball (particularly the Dodgers), telling stories, and spending time with his family. He was also devoted to his Catholic faith. Joe passed away peacefully at his home on February 15, 2025 in Hemet, California with his son, James, by his side.
He is survived by his brother David (Jeannie), his sister Teresa, his children Joseph, James, and Michael (Veberly), stepchildren Michael, Patrick (Paulo), and Erin (Tracey), his two grandchildren, Ryan (Rushna) and Shane, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son David, and siblings, Angela, Barbara, Geneveive, Robert, Donald, Gerald, Lawrence, and David. Joe shared his love and was loved by those who surrounded him. He will be missed but will live on in spirit through those he loved.
