

Born in Colorado Springs, Colorado, he lived in Colorado but, moved to California when he was young. He spent most of his life in California both in Southern and Northern California.
Joy is survived by his son Bill Le Veau, daughter Rose Marie Luisi, and loving Grandchildren, Great Grandchildren, Nieces, Nephews, and extended family. Joy was a precious, loving, and cherished Father, Husband, Grandfather, Great Grandfather, Uncle, and friend to all. He was preceded in death by his daughter Joyce Lohman.
Joy graduated from Fairfax High School in Los Angeles, California in 1935 where he was in the ROTC program. Joy married the love of his life Rose Mitchell Crittenden in 1939. They were married for 61 1/2 years until Rose's death in 2001. Joy was a member of a Barber Shop Quartet that sang on the radio and was trained in Opera. Music was a very big part of his life. Joy served as a Private in the US Army during World War II where he served in the Antiaircraft Command Army Ground Forces and trained as a Radio Operator. Joy worked in the Dry Cleaning Industry for over 50 years. He loved sports, playing basketball, coaching basketball and other sports, watching any kind of sports on TV, attending all of his 6 Grandsons' Little League up to High School baseball games when he could, and spending time with his children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and family whenever he could. He was very active in and served as President in the Kiwana's Club, Y's Men's Club, and as Vice President of the Goleta Valley Chamber of Commerce.
Joy moved to Burlingame, California in 2002 along with his daughter Rose Marie and enjoyed many happy years playing bingo with his friends at the Recreation Center, Burlingame, and being with all of his friends at the Senior Church Group on Thursdays.
Joy was true to his name. He was a "joyful, loving, caring soul." Words cannot describe how we, his family, will miss him. We love you forever Daddy, Grandpa/Grandpa Joy, Great Grandpa/Great Grandpa Joy!
