Karla Jean Knauss passed away at the age of 77, on Thursday, August 31, 2023, in Murrieta, California. She was born to John Brian Stewart and Ruth (Dormann) Stewart, on Tuesday, April 16, 1946, in Sidney, Nebraska; and she was one of two children.
Karla moved to Hemet in 1955, attended Hemet High, and graduated 1964. Soon after, she met the love of her life, her best friend, Charles Knauss in 1968. Married in 1969. Karla was very active in the Ramona Pageant, a historic, outdoor play. After obtaining her bachelor's degree, she went on to become an exceptional Registered Nurse at the Hemet Hospital for over 40 years and she enjoyed teaching at Mt. San Jacinto College. While balancing her career, Karla was an amazing wife and dedicated mother. Karla was married for 54 wonderful years to her loving husband, Charles. They were blessed with five beautiful children that would later make Karla a grandmother and great-grandmother as well. In her spare time, she enjoyed walking her dog, gardening, reading the bible, cooking and baking, and of course shopping. Karla was a vibrant and phenomenal woman who served as a pillar of strength for others. She always had a smile for everyone she met.
Karla is survived by her husband, Charles; her daughters, Lissa Bowen and Kimberly Minesinger; her sons, Steven Knauss and David Knauss; 8 grandchildren; and 2 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Ruth Stewart; her son, Eric Setzer; her grandson, Kenny Minesinger; and her brother, John Stewart.
In lieu of flowers, family has asked to please donate to Mt. San Jacinto College Fund, to assist someone’s journey in becoming a nurse.
