

Katherine Beulah Harris was born on the 28th day of January 1921 in Ash Grove, Missouri to Malner and Mintie Elizabeth Harris (née Montgomery). She was the sister of Deward, Cletis, Clifford, Wilburn and Lester Harris.
She attended the School of Nursing at Kansas City General Hospital and was employed at Burton Mercy Hospital in Detroit, Michigan as a Medical Records Librarian.
In 1946, she married Samuel J. Watson, Jr. in Detroit, Michigan. The couple resided in Detroit until the date of her passing December 20th 2004.
She enjoyed the company of many friends in Detroit. She enjoyed playing Bridge, attending venues such as cotillion balls. She and her husband also enjoyed cruises aboard ocean liners that toured the Caribbean areas.
She is survived by her son Stanley Mark Watson, her grandson Mark Joseph Watson, her niece Oneda Harris and her sister-in-law Harriet Harris both of Seattle, Washington.
Samuel Joseph Watson, Jr. was born on the 4th day of August 1924 in Birmingham, Alabama to Samuel Joseph, Sr. and Eugene Contella Snelling Watson. He was the brother of Francis Jean Clark Watson Clark and Caroline Snelling Watson Pickens.
After graduating from Parker High School in Birmingham, he attended A& T State College in Greensboro, North Carolina. He entered the United States Marine Corps on May 17th 1943. His primary duty was as a Bandsman and his instrument being the clarinet. He was stationed on the island of Eniwetok in the South Pacific for the majority of his tour.
He was honorably discharged from the Marine Corps in 1946 whereupon he married Katherine and began working at the United States Post Office in Detroit.
He was a prodigious artist, painting primarily in the abstract style similar to Picasso and Miró.
He is survived by his son Stanley Mark, grandson Mark Joseph, sister Caroline Watson Pickens, niece Jeanie Carol Pickens Tobias, and grandnephews David M., Alexander G. and Joshua E. Tobias.
