It is with deep sadness and a broken heart, I say, my mother, Kathleen Russell, passed away this last Thursday evening, April 9th.
She went very peacefully, which was the hopes and wishes of our family.
Kathleen was a dedicated mother, school teacher, and wife. A few of her many accomplishments included, Bachelor’s Degree in English and a minor in Art. She attended St. Mary’s college in South Bend Indiana, and was an Alumni of The Fighting Irish of Notre Dame. Master’s Degree in Education from Cal State Fullerton as well as her Administrative Credentials. She loved teaching underprivileged children in the harsh area of South Central L.A.
She made a big difference with many children over her 30 year teaching career.
She loved Art, Music, and Antiques. Very accomplished Painter over the years, leaving behind personal artwork I will treasure forever. She made an impact on my life and I will miss her dearly. She was a very loving and kind person, always thinking of others, and never, at any time, left her children wanting for anything life had to offer. My Mother, My Hero, My Friend. She leaves behind 2 sons, a granddaughter, and a great granddaughter.
A Mother’s Love. This is something special and spiritual that has been given to all. How we accept and cultivate that love is up to each of us.
I was very fortunate to have a mother that gave life to me at birth, and then a second time as a young man. If not for her, I would of just been another teenage tragic death statistic.
I dedicated the last 32 years of my life watching over and honoring my mother. That journey has now come to an end.
For all the mothers out there. Regardless of how things seem to be, rest assured, your love and nurturing will always have a profound effect on your children’s lives.
I AM the product of “A Mother’s Love”.
Rest in Peace Mom, your wishes and hard work have all paid off.
