

My Daddy, Lawrence "Larry" Reed is my hero and fought a good fight against bladder cancer for sixteen years. He graduated from Carver High School in 1960, moved to Chicago and worked in the restaurant business for one year before joining the United States Air Force in 1961. While serving in the armed services he spent time in Saint Anthony, Newfoundland; Roswell, New Mexico; Paris; France; Mildenhall, England; Tinker AFB, Oklahoma City; San Francisco, CA; Atlanta, Georgia; Ankara, Turkey; Salt Lake City, Utah and March AFB. Mr. Reed retired from the Air Force in 1989. Following his retirement, he resided in Perris, California and was employed by the California School District for seventeen years retiring again in 2007.
In 1963 Lawrence married his high school sweetheart Doris Louise Beard Reed, to this union one daughter, Brandye Teresa Reed was born in 1969 on Tinker Air Force Base, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
He leaves to cherish his memory: One daughter, Brandye Teresa Reed, grandson, Michael Bernard III; granddaughter, Asia Capri Malone; great-granddaughter, Safiya Destiny Bernard; Sisters, Addie Florence Green, Eddie Lou Reed, Mary Donahue and Clara Britt. He leaves a host of nieces and nephews, support groups and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Doris L Reed, his parents, Alice and Eddie Reed, brothers, Sammie Taylor, James Thomas Reed, sisters, Josephine Jones and Lena Mae Campbell.
