Born Leona Louise Scott on December 14, 1920 to Bert and Frona Scott in Valley Falls, Kansas, where she was reared and educated. In the 1940s, she lived in New York City for a year before settling in California. In 1952 she married Tom Womack, and they made their home in Alameda, California. He passed away in 1979 following 27 years of marriage. She worked for many years for the Santa Fe Railroad, retiring in the early 1980s. After her retirement, she relocated to Citrus Heights to be closer to her sister. They later moved to Sun City and for over 20 years she was a resident of Hemet, California. In the last two years, she was a resident of The Village Retirement Center where she made many new friends and won an award for her beautiful hand paintings she did.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husbands Tom and Cliff who she shared a special relationship with as she cared for him in his final years, and her brother-in-law, Lee Lambert. Survivors include a sister, Rosalie Lambert of Hemet, two nephews, Gary Lambert and wife Bonnie of Seymour, Missouri, and Terry Lambert and wife Sally of Yucaipa, California, four great nieces and nephews, several great-great-nieces and nephews and several step children.
The family would like to thank The Village Retirement Center and The Hemet Valley Medical Center for providing care and comfort to our beloved aunt in her final days.
