

Born Thursday, March 20, 1924 in Vinita, Oklahoma, she was the daughter of the late Sheridan Cook and the late Mable Phillips Cook. She was the wife of the late John Freitas.
Madenia had a passion for retail and spent her career in the industry, eventually opening the Body and Sole clothing store that she managed and owned for 20 years.
In her free time, she was very active in the community and volunteered with a lot of organizations. She was involved with the San Jacinto Women's Club for many years, and she helped spearhead the fundraiser that restored the Estudillo Mansion in San Jacinto back to its original glory.
She also enjoyed travelling, gardening, fishing and camping, and she liked to end the day with a glass of red wine.
Surviving are daughter, Carol Otterstrom, 8 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren, with one more on the way.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John, her daughter, Christine Kosar and son, Charles Freitas.
Services will be held on Saturday, February 3 at 11:30 a.m. at Miller-Jones Mortuary Chapel located at 165 West Seventh Street, San Jacinto, CA. Interment will be in Riverside National Cemetery,
