Maria Elena Cordova, 71 from Hemet passed away on Sunday, December 1. She was a long time resident of the valley for over 40 years. Originally from Weslaco, Texas, she was the daughter of Lorenzo Cordova and Josefina Torres Cordova. She is survived by two brothers; Adam Cordova and Lorenzo Cordova Jr. and five sisters; Eva Maldonado, Lupe Olivarez, Juanita Mora, Rosa Cordova-Wood, and Josie Cordova. She has one daughter Melissa Owens, son-in-law Mark Owens and her two precious grandchildren Matthew and Madison Owens. She was a long time Teacher's Aide for Whittier Elementary School where she was loved by many and made life-long friends. She was retired and enjoyed Country music, oldies-but-goodies, western movies and the Dodgers! She was also an avid collector of rocks, owls, panda bears, buffaloes, music boxes and so much more! She loved bird watching and nature. She will be missed, but her memories will be treasured.
