Marie Stone was born Marie Lucy Tenorio on December 24, 1911 in Kingston, Jamaica to Louise Victoria (Anderson) Tenorio and Cayetano Moreno Tenorio. Marie's parents were living in Galveston, Texas at the time of her birth, but her mother would return to her grandmother's home in Jamaica to give birth. Marie was the third of five girls: Louise, Lolita, Marie, Katherine, and Florence.
When Marie passed, she was the mother of one son Brian, a grandmother of three: Kimberly, Angela and Timothy, a great grandmother of eight and a great-great grandmother of one. She was the loving wife of Cecil B. Stone who was reunited with his "sweet pea" on May 12th of this year.
Marie lived in Texas until 1920 when her parents moved to California. She grew up in the Los Angeles area and attended Belmont High School. In 1936 she was married and in 1937 she gave birth to her only child Brian. Later, she divorced and raised Brian as a single mother. In 1951 she and Brian moved to Lindsay, California, and there she met Cecil, the love of her life, at a church function. They were married in 1958 and remained in Lindsay until 1967. They moved to Atascadero where lived until they retired in Hemet in 1974.
Marie was a strong Christian who demonstrated her faith every day. Christian service was a way of life for both Marie and Cecil. She could be seen each day in her car helping others, whether she was helping someone in need, visiting the sick, or giving someone a ride to church. She taught a Bible study for many years. In addition, Marie would bake goods for others in the early morning, and she would clean her kitchen long before most people were getting out of bed.
Marie was very strong-willed. Some people would consider it being stubborn, but others called it dedicated Christian service. Whatever your opinion, you knew you could count on Marie for help in any situation. She will be missed by many here, but welcomed by many more in Heaven.
