Marion Mayes

Marion Spearmon entered this life on Wednesday, January 29, 1917 In Newberry, South Carolina, to the union of Fred Spearman and Melisa Walker. Marion was the third youngest of ten siblings. At the age of twelve years old, Marion and her family migrated from South Carolina to New York City where she continued her education.

After High School, Marion was chosen to take care for her parents at the onset of

their illness. She was a wonderful caretaker to her parents until their deaths.

In 1944, Marion met her future husband, Harold Mayes, and they were married in

1945. In 1947 this union produced a son that died at birth. The following year, a son, Michael was born and thirteen months later, another son, Keith was born.

Marion was a fiercely devoted mother who left no stone unturned when it came to

the care of her children. When her husband, Harold passed in 1964, Marion did

not miss a beat and Michael and Keith did not want for anything. All their needs

were well taken care of. Marion also took care of nieces and nephews, and loved

and cared for them as she did her sons.

On September 11, 2014 Marion entered eternal life in Moreno Valley, California.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and all of her siblings. And

now as she joins them all in the heavenly realm.

She leaves behind to cherish her loving memory her two sons: Michael D. Mayes

(Edith daughter In-law of 39 years) of Moreno Valley, CA, Keith Mayes of New

York, stepdaughter Carol Bowman of Minnesota, ten grandchildren: Stephen L.

Belcher of New York, Keith A. Mayes (Mikiesha) of Minnesota, former daughter In-law Rose Judkins of Minesota, Kia Y. Story of Moreno Valley, CA

Michael J. Mayes (Michelle) of Moreno Valley, CA, Jarred K. Mayes (Celine) of Beaumont, CA, Marissa D. Mayes of Moreno Valley, CA, Jai A. Mayes (Yolanda) of Moreno Valley, CA, Aleia D. Briere (Thomas) of Moreno Valley, CA, Jamon D. Mayes (Maria) of Moreno Valley, CA , Joshua B. Mayes of Moreno Valley, CA. 12 great grandchildren: Myles, Marcus, Rhya, Brayden, Makenna, Amir Justin, Camren, Carter, Robert, Michelle, and Tristen and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
