

Marjorie "Jeanne " Merritt, 70 of Hemet, California passed away on Saturday, November 23, 2013, at home. She was married to James Merritt for over 51 years. Jeanne and Jim met in high school and as the story goes, Jeanne was in the principal's office getting awards for being president of the Girls League, cheerleader, and a number of school clubs, whereas Jim was getting detention, again. She was born on Thursday, June 17, 1943, and was the daughter of the late Roy and Ruth Daniel. She travelled during the early years all over the country watching Jim play baseball. On a trip she drove from California to Florida in the family station wagon with three toddlers. She loved her family and they were the most important thing to her. Jeanne was a gourmet cook and loved to entertain producing many specialty dishes, including Jim's favorite, spaghetti. She was able to put on a great dish using all her culinary skills and passed his test so she could be included in the Merritt family. Jeanne also carried the family tradition of sewing from Ruth, her mom, by being a very good seamstress. Her family describes her as very loyal, quick-witted, gregarious, and family oriented. Surviving is her husband James Merritt, sons Randy Merritt, Ron (Leah) Merritt, Rod (Jen) Merritt, brother Robert (Genene) Perkins, brother in law Bruce (Linda) Merritt, and three grand children.
