Martin Elmer Barrows

Martin Elmer Barrows, age 74, passed away on March 31, 2012, after a long battle with cancer at home surrounded by his granddaughter Jessica Sanders and her wife Esther, daughter Marty Ann Burns, and daughter-in-law Kimberly Knight, in Hemet, CA. He was born November 2, 1937 to Roy Martin Barrows and Maevine Gertrude (Newcity) Barrows in Stowe, VT. After high school, Martin moved to Southern California in 1955 and started working for the US Forest Service. He met and married the love of his life, Betty Jean (Trogden) Barrows and had four children. Martin and Betty were married for 45 years. Martin "Marty" was a dedicated, hard working Government employee and worked for over 34 years with the US Forest Service and retired September 1989. For those that knew Marty he always had a project around the house that needed to get done hence the nick name of "The Putterer". He was the primary care giver to his disabled granddaughter Jill Sanders. He was a great and caring man who loved his family above all else. He was always there to help a friend or neighbor in need. He is survived by daughter Marty Ann Burns and grandchildren Christopher and Kellie Burns of Olympia, WA, daughter-in-law Kimberly Knight and grandson William Bordeaux of Hemet, CA, grandson Jeremy Barrows and his wife Jennifer and their three children of Hemet, Ca, granddaughter Jennifer Matthews and her three children of San Jacinto, CA, granddaughter Jill Sanders of Hemet, CA, granddaughter Jessica Sanders and her wife Esther of Hemet, CA, daughter Robin Sick of Hemet, CA, and son Lloyd Barrows and his wife Shelly of Tenino, WA. He was preceded in death by his wife Betty Barrows, daughter Wendy Sanders, parents, Roy and Maevine Barrows, brother, Willis Barrows, and sister Orpha Stebbins. Martin will be cremated at Miller Jones Mortuary, Hemet, CA and flown back to Stowe, VT for burial.
