Mary Ann was born on July 19, 1928, in Erie, PA, to Joseph and Anna (Martin) Boetger. She graduated from Villa Maria Academy in 1942, and worked as a secretary for General Electric in the engineering department. Mary Ann married Robert Weschler on May 1st, 1954, and they raised two daughters, Debbie and Eileen, and one son, Joe. Bob and Mary Ann moved from Erie, to La Puente, CA, where they lived for 30 years before retiring to Hemet.
Mary Ann was a devout Catholic, and had a special devotion to the Blessed Mother. She was dedicated to her family, and truly loved being a mom and most especially being a grandmother. She would disappear from many a family party, only to be found in one of the grandkid’s bedrooms, where she was being held “captive” to whatever game or story was in process. Mary Ann was an avid reader, and loved to dance. She had a wonderful sense of humor, and found joy in the simplest situations in life.
Mary Ann served as a volunteer for many years at Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church in the Ministry to the Elderly program as well as a kitchen worker at weekly bingo. Toward the end of her life she suffered from macular degeneration and was almost totally blind, but she rarely, if ever, complained.
Mary Ann was preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Anna Boetger, as well as two of her siblings, Don Boetger and Dona Lindsey. She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Robert, her three children, Debbie (Terry) Mammen, Eileen Kunkel, and Joe (Deirdre) Weschler, 9 grandchildren, her brother Gary Boetger, and cousins too numerous to count!
Visitation will be on Wednesday, October 30th, from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m., with a rosary at 6:30 p.m., at Miller-Jones Mortuary in Hemet. The funeral mass will be held on Thursday, October 31st., at Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church, Hemet, at 10:30 a.m. A reception will be held immediately following mass in the parish hall.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Mary Ann’s name to Unbound or Catholic Relief Services.
