

Mary Anne McGinty Hague of Murrieta, CA died on February 15, 2018 at the age of 77. Born February 22, 1940 in Philadelphia, PA, she was the first child of the late Joseph and Phyllis McGinty. She spent most of her childhood in Philadelphia and later moved to West Chester, PA where she attended St. Agnes High School and West Chester University where she graduated with a degree in Education.
Mary Anne was offered a position with the Department of Defense in 1963 and taught for seven years in Germany, Japan, Turkey and England. It was in England that she met and married Dave, who was in the Air Force at the time. Mary Anne is survived by her loving husband Dave of 48 years and their two children, Douglas (Katherine) Hague of Santa Monica and Michelle (Chad) Schnittjer of Pasadena. They have three loving grandchildren, Ella, Caitlyn and Hayden. She was preceded in death by her parents and her beloved brother, Frank who referred to her as "She who must be obeyed."
The Hague family moved from the East Coast to Southern California in 1989. Mary Anne received a Special Education credential from UC Irvine and her last teaching job was at Hollywood High School. After retiring in 2002, Mary Anne moved to Santa Rosa in Northern California. She loved being close to her favorite city of San Francisco. In 2014, she and Dave moved back to Southern California to be closer to their kids and grandkids.
Mary Anne and Dave loved to travel and spent their younger years making their way through Europe and more recently went to the Far East, New Zealand and Australia. In 2017, they had an amazing experience on their safari in Kenya and Tanzania. They also cruised to the Panama Canal, the Amazon River, the Caribbean, and Alaska. Maui was Mary Anne's favorite vacation spot that she visited numerous times.
Mary Anne was an avid reader of mystery novels and enjoyed participating in a book club wherever she lived. She also loved gardening, coloring, home decorating and collecting Asian antiques.
Service Details
A memorial mass will be held on February 23, 2018 at 1:00 pm at St. Catherine of Alexandria. The church is located at 41875 C Street, Temecula, CA 92592. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Joseph's Indian School (www.stjo.org) or St. Labre Indian School (www.stlabre.org).
