What Do You Way About Your Mother?
What do you say about your Mother? I don't remember thinking too much about my parents as I look back over the years. I know that as a small child I was especially close to my Dad. Like every little girl, I thought he was the best thing going. I could always count on him to hold me when I needed comforting, help me with my math homework, laugh with me when things were funny, and he was the greatest person to cuddle up with. Mom was just Mom; always there and ever present in my life. Mom was the person that kept us all in line. She was the one who got up early every morning to fix us breakfast before sending us off to school or out to play, fixed our lunches (until we were old enough to do it ourselves), fixing dinner every night, sewed and washed our clothes, got us off to dance classes, baton classes, piano lessons (I didn't stick with those for very long, much to my regret), met with our teachers at school, stepped in to help us when we needed help, got us out of scrapes, let us have it (discipline) when we needed it and loved us unconditionally. As I grew older and was out on my own, she continued to be my mom but also became my friend. She was the person I went to for help, a shoulder to lean on when things were tough and the first person I wanted to share the good times with. She was so excited when I told her I was going to be a Mom. She never asked us for anything other than what we wanted to give her. She never once in my life said "I told you so" when things were going bad she was just there for me, offering encouragement and comfort when I needed it. She was the person that knew me better than anyone. She could always tell when I hadn't eaten just by the way I was acting. She knew when things weren't going well but would never pry. She would always wait for me to say something before she would say anything. Then, more times that I can count, she would just listen. She rarely ever had a bad word to say about anyone. When is she did, it was said with kindness and compassion. Mom is gone now and I will miss her every day of my life and although I told her I loved her almost every time I talked to her, I wish I could tell her just one more time how much I appreciated having her in my life. Thanks Mom. I am the person I am in large part because of you.

We the Reyes family who lived next store in El Monte, Ca, are sadden by the death of Millie one of our mother's (Blasa Reyes, known as Bea) long time neighbor and friend. Our prayers and condolences go out to her family.

Thankful
The thing I thankful most about my mother was how she tried to give each of us kids a well rounded set of activities outside of school work. My brother it was music and my older sisters it was dance, baton lessons and piano lessons. I was given the opportunity to play baseball and basketball and flag football. I think that is why I'm running to marathons today. Denise was even given a chance to learn to sew, knit, and crochet. We all learned how to swim. She was loving kind and yet could give you what for when you screwed up. Which was in my case daily.

Millie was a very special person in my life and a wonderful grandmother to my children. I have so many good memories of her and Don and the home where everyone was welcome. Her influence, acceptance, and love will remain in our hearts.

I am so sorry for your loss. Aunt Millicent was a very kind,loving,and caring person. she will be greatly missed by all who knew her. God Bless and R.I.P. Aunt Millicent
