

Norma Kitchell, 72 of Hemet, California died on Saturday, April 23, 2011, at Manorcare Health Services-Hemet in Hemet, California. Born Sunday, September 25, 1938 in Texarkana, Texas, she was the daughter of Leland Rhodes and Lula Akin. Norma was an artist and kept the most beautiful home that anyone felt welcome in. She could create a design in her head and put together perfectly without having a pattern. She had her wild side where as a young teenager crossed over from one moving convertible to another. She was known to toss a few paper rolls with her granddaughters while they were "TP-ing" someone's home. She was a teacher and worked with deaf children teaching them how to speak. Later she helped families with a daycare center with 11 children. Norma owned antique shops and love to find hidden treasures as she searched yard sales and other shops. She loved to garden and her roses were her pride and joy. Norma would crochet and knit and made many dresses for all her children and grandchildren. She visited her family many times in Texas and just recently made a trip to visit family in Colorado and Arizona. Her family describes her loving, caring, compassionate, beautiful, artistic and grand woman of faith but the perfect description is simply Mama. Preceding in death are her husband Donald I. Kitchell and grandson Jayden Ivory Thomas Goodrum. Surviving are son, Danny Lee Kitchell, daughters, Sherry Lynn Kitchell-Oles, Kristina Ann Chapman and Kellie Marie Goodrum;13 grand children. A Funeral services will be at 12:30 PM on Monday at Riverside National Cemetery located at 22495 Van Buren Blvd. Riverside California 92518. Interment will be in Riverside National Cemetery, Riverside, CA.
