“Eito” a veteran of the States United National Guard, 3 years, 1954-1957. When he was drafted to serve in the United States Army from 1957-1959 as a Tank Operator, Headquarter Company: 1st Medium Tank Battalion 35thArmor.
Moving to the Reservation in 1979 “Eito” quickly made himself at home and became a pillar of the community. Having a background in construction and masonry, “Eito” started improving the roads and water lines for Pechanga. In the 1980s he wore a few hats including a position on Tribal Council, working for the Water Department, Indian Health and on the Cultural Committee.
Although he had been out of the spotlight for several years that didn’t mean he did not have a voice in the community. As we all know he wasn’t shy about his opinions and he wasn’t afraid to speak his mind into the mic at Tribal Meetings. In 2016 at the 134th Annual Temét Pecháangawish “Pechanga Day” he was given a plaque to honor his work for the tribe.
You will be greatly missed but with over 90 descendants, it’s time for us to walk on the road you helped put down. Thank you.
