Ray was raised in the South Bay Area (Torrance) where he attended Gardenia High School and enjoyed participating on the football team. He became interested in art and attended the Chouinard Art Institute in Los Angeles. After serving in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War he returned home and married Ruth, fathered 3 children, John, Colleen, Norm and was stepdad to Cynthia and Lyndon. He began his career in Aerospace as an Associate Engineer.
Ray married the former Michele Gore in 1995, became stepdad to Robin and Brian, retired and in 2001 moved to their current location in Four Seasons. Ray looked forward to the monthly lunches with good friends, Bill Pennington; Bill LeValley and Rick Palardy. He and his buddies enjoyed attending the Chaparral High School football games. Ray also enjoyed playing tennis over the years and became a skilled player. He has continued his interest in all forms of art and has generously gifted several residents here at Four Seasons with his art work.
Though he faced multiple health issues including cancer and MDS in recent years, he never lost his enthusiasm for cheering UCLA football on to victory.
Ray is survived by wife, Michele, seven children, eight grandchildren, three great grandchildren and 3 nieces.
A private, informal gathering honoring Ray will be held at a later date.
