

Richard was born on July 4, 1943 in Fairmont , Minnesota to Percival and Loreine Nissen and passed away at home on March 5, 2011 in San Jacinto , California .He enlisted in the army Corps. Of Engineers, 4th U.S. Army in 1960, was stationed at Fort Sill , Oklahoma and upon discharge, he moved to California . He worked for Operating Engineers, Local 12 for about 30 years as a heavy equipment operator and retired to San Jacinto in 2003. Richard loved his family first and foremost. He also loved raising pigs and fishing on his pontoon boat.He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Barbara Lee Nissen; five children- James R. Nissen (Cassandra), Kurt J. Wagner (Jennie), Robert J. Wagner, Nichole M. Nissen and Susanne C. Halsey (Lee); one sister - Georgia Lyns, of Boca Rotan, Florida; a mother-in-law - Christine Rice of Racine, Wisconsin; a sister-in-law - Joyce Weyrich of Fairfax, VA, brother-in-law and sister-in-law - Terry and Kathy Smigun of Hemet, California, and five granddaughters – Brooke Wagner, Molly Kieselhorst, Mia Nissen, Grace Nissen, Riley Nissen and one grandson – Ryan Nissen.Richard served as a High Priest in San Jacinto Ward of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. The viewing will be held at McWane Family Funeral Home on Tuesday 15th from 6-7 p.m. and the services will be performed at 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 16th in the Chapel at 1120 DeAnza Street , San Jacinto , CA 92582 . Interment will follow at Riverside National Cemetery . Entrusted to the care of McWane Family Funeral Home.
