A legend in our shared franchise industry; a good friend, and a valued associate in our shared days working with FEMA and the Franchise Emergency Action Team. As a former Southern Californian too, he will be deeply missed even if it's taken me a hair over 2 years to hear of his passing.

My deepest condolences to Lorie and her family.  I first met Dick when i came to start my job at American Leak Detection Corporate Headquarters 15 years ago.  I was waiting in the lobby and this man came in wearing a Hawaiian shirt and shorts and introduced himself to me as the janitor later when i was being introduced around my last stop was the office of the owner and low and behold it was the nice janitor i first met.  I knew he wasn't the janitor. But i did know i had picked the right company.  Dick always had time to talk and he would come down just to visit to see how everyone was doing.  He knew everybody's name and a little about them.  He will be missed.

While this is a very sad time for us all I would like to post a lighter note I experienced with Dick and Co.
While in training in Palm Springs 30 odd years ago Dick and Rocky told me of a quite place that I should visit to have a quite drink at. I visted the establishment called "Danny Wallbucks" in Palm Springs one night and I was mentally scared for life when I saw the barman turn around wearing just a pair of horse chaps (village people style) where the hole back end was missing. Over the next few weeks at training I was the ream of all the  jokes! Rocky would enquire "so John where are you heading tonight" etc etc. Good times had by all, thanks Dick we will all miss you mate.

Well with Dick you always had a good time and there were plenty of laughs along the way. Regardless of where you were he made sure that you were comfortable even if it was at his expence. Sometimes it was a simple shugg of his big shoulders or a glance to Lorrie " am I in trouble". Jacky and I along with my family and other aussie over here are forever indebited to Dick and Lorrie for the trust shown in us 30 odd years ago with ALD. 
Dick was a very caring person had a deep sole he loved his family, work, antiques and his love of cars and rods put him on another page with his wheeling and dealing. We are all better people from knowing you see you soon big fella.

Almost 30 years ago I went to that "exotic" city called Palm Springs to research a business opportunity of a very "exotic" service called leak detection. There I meet this guy, Dick Rennick and then you understand that good people are good people doesn´t matter the country or culture. His straight and direct way to proceed made a connection with me and my father and we left as partners. And as partners we always stayed facing the good and tough (never bad) times that every business and relations face. If his ACT with T formula (among lots of others formulas that he always loved) the partnership became friendship. A good one, with many stories and laughs and trips, all those things that make life worth. So destiny joined these guys from places so far, ages not so far, different cultures and backgrounds to make then good friends. Thanks destiny for all these great years we shared, and specially to have the chance  to hug and say good bye to my good friend. It is my belief that this is not the end, only the beginning of a new phase, so till we can meet again, stay well and try to be out of trouble! Don´t try to fix any toasters, please! Saint Peter will quick you out! Love you my friend!

We first met Dick in 1994 when we purchased our ALD Franchise . Over the many years we became business partners and friends.
Dick was without a doubt the most honest and sincere man I have ever met . Many would say Dick had quite the ego the best thing about what fed Dicks ego was the success of others.  He truly cared about everyone in his franchise and wanted everyone to be successful even at his cost .
He was in my opinion the last of the great business associates and his legacy of ALD will live on with his kind and generous spirt. He will be missed by many.

Sincerely, Mark and  Diane Tanner purchased the Guiding Light Bouquet for the family of Richard Rennick.

I met this great man when we were hired by the Riverside Police Dept in 1970. We attended the police academy together and became true friends from that moment on.
Dick was one of a kind, as he really cared of whats going on in your life and he would be there if you needed him.
After Dick left the PD he got in the plumbing business and ran a successful business in Riverside. 
Dick had a stint with the Riverside Sheriff Dept and the Forestry, but his calling was in the plumbing business.
Dick bought a franchise, "American Leak Detection" and turned that into a very successful business.
Although Dick & I went in different directions, we always made sure we kept in contact with each other.
Dick & I said our goodbyes to each other about two weeks ago and my last words to him were "I loved you!"

Dick and I grew up together, he was a wonderful friend.  My wife Diane and I are shocked and saddened with this news. He was so loyal, he placed his insurance with my wife through her agency.

Again, so very, very sad about Dick.

Dick was a true friend and mentor to me for more than 25 years though our connection with the International Franchise Association.  So many IFA Conventions were shared together. His service to help communities in need through the Franchise Emergency Action Team - FEAT, and creating "A Taste of Franchising" at the IFA Convention were just a couple ideas that this entrepreneur dreamed up.  My last call with Dick a few weeks ago, he was talking about starting a company with me...a true entrepreneur til the end! I  will miss him and our talks greatly.  Thank you for all the memories Captain!

Heidi Morrissey & his Kitchen Tune-Up family purchased the Simply Elegant Spathiphyllum for the family of Richard Rennick.

I met Dick at my 1st IFA convention.  He was so easy to talk with and gave me his valuable time which made me feel valued.  When he called me about buying one of our franchises, it was so fun to talk to him about franchising, the history of our business and the conversations he had with my dad as my dad launched his franchise.  Dick was a franchise with us for a few years and always willing to share tips to help others.  Dick was a great guy with a big laugh and he was always willing to share with anyone he met.  Status did not matter, just that someone had a need.
I'm so glad our paths crossed and that I was able to learn so much from him.  A huge thanks to his family for sharing him with so many people.

Dick was a special person to Robert and me. He was always so positive and supportive of both of us. So many good memories with IFA trips and meetings. A generous guy, he gifted all of his IFA Board with a special coaster with a palm tree on it. It is still the coaster I use in my home office all of these years later! I’ve thought of him often....and Lorrie, as well, through the years. Special people. Dick - you’re spirit, humor, and professionalism will be missed.

We have recently retired and are comfortable financially because of Dick and Lorrie. The ALD system has been an unimaginable blessing to us and we will be eternally grateful. Even more, we will forever be blessed by the memories of the wonderful times that we had with them both. Since my sister lives in the area, we were able to have many more visits after they left ALD. Besides the fun times we will always be grateful for their personal concern for us. Dick was in Japan, half way around the world when our Florida home was hit with a hurricane. He made sure to call and check on us as soon as he could get a call through which was around 3:00AM in Japan. Also, we will never forget that they made the effort to travel from California to Florida for Bill’s 50th birthday. Dick, you are a legend and an inspiration to so many of us. You will be dearly missed.

Wow! So many wonderful memories and times shared with Dick and his family. A friendship for more than 40 yrs. life shared in Idyllwild , Ca., A special memories when he coached the Pony Shop softball league, we thought he was the greatest even though he said he had never done any coaching before, One day at practice he hit me a ground ball that bounced off the ground hard and gave me the biggest black eye I’d ever had, he made me keep playing after a little Ice pack time and said “ I told you to keep your eyes on the ball but not that close lol :joy:.

What fond memories I have of this icon in franchising.  Dick was a great friend and mentor, and he will truly live on in the halls of the International Franchise Association.

I will always remember Dick's warm smile and his incredible stories.  In particular I remember a story he told explaining why it was a company expense to replace the trees at his house, that had me believing every word, only to find out it was complete fabrication.  I'm smiling just thinking about it.

His love for people showed in all that he did; and his generosity to all of his employees let us know we were valued and appreciated.  The office felt like family, not just a job.  Something I miss every day.  He will surely be missed by many.

Dick made it possible for so many of us to fulfill our goals and desires.  He was selfless in his willingness to help us reach our goals.  He would make office visits, in the early years, and offer to babysit our kids so we could have a night out.

Dick and Lorrie didn't start this franchise system with only their financial success in mind but that of the franchisees as well.  His impact on those who became his friends and those who are now part of ALD who never knew him has been huge.

We won't forget Dick and all that he did for us.  Thanks Dick, we'll miss you!

Having the good fortune of meeting Dick 25 years ago changed our lives forever and his influence will extend generationally within our family. Dick's memory will always bring a smile to our lips though we have shed tears for him in the past--from laughing so hard at his crazy antics. Dick Rennick...a giving, caring, and loving man. I met Dick through the car world. He had a huge love for cars and collectibles. A little time ago, my young car company built a car for Dick. We showed that car at some of the biggest shows in the United States and made some great memories along the way. Just meeting Dick made me a better man, and helped grow my small company to bigger things. Too many stories to tell! A great man that with be missed!

Dick as I sit here thinking of you,  there are so many things I’m going to miss about you.
