Bob is survived by Velma, daughter Pamela in Florida. A daughter, Marcia, preceded him in death in 1991. He has 5 grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild and numerous nieces and nephews. Bob was the last of a great Irish family of 3 brothers and 4 sisters, who resided in Aguanga at various times after retiring. Rochester, MN was Bob's hometown. At age 16 Bob hitchiked to San Francisco, CA with is trusty hunting knife for protection to find "fame and fortune". His first job was reading electric meters for the local utility. Bob served in the US Army as a weapons instructor during the Korean was era. After the military Bob worked for a pest control business in San Francisco and met his beloved Velma; they were married in 1974. Urged by brother Arthur he moved to LA to be part of Arthur's Pest Control business. In 1976 he moved to Hemet and then Aguanga where he provided pest control throughout the area. He joined his brothers and sisters in Agunaga while working and in retirement. The Howery family loved singing and music. Fond memories are held of backyard occasions and holiday singing with much gusto and Irish beer involved. Bob's love of music was expressed through karaoke and was well known at the various "spots" throughout the area; if he wasn't singing he was playing pool with his great friends. Along with his singing Bob loved helping family and friends any way he could, especially with his favorite tractor. He and Velma grew their own veggies and experimented with various "cash crops" on their land. Strangely, he developed an interest in worm farming. He always had a spare part for anyone from his incredible parts stash. He never saw a market coupon he didn't like. Bob will be remembered as the loving husband of Velma, a true gentleman farmer, a singer of great songs, an avid fisherman and proud of his military service. Bob loved his family, friends and neighbors; along with his tractor and music. And a really cold can of beer.
Service will be at Miller-Jones Mortuary, Hemet.
