

Robert "Bruce" Maxey, passed away on October 10, 2013 after a long courageous battle with an illness. He was born on December 26, 1926 in Sunnyside, Washington. and had lived in Hemet since 1955 and in California since 1944. His father was a missionary minister. Bruce had his four years of high school in four different states with his senior year being at Northwest Nazarene College in Boise, Idaho plus 2 years of college.
His love of music started at a very early age. With four boys and four girls in the family they could always put together a quartet. At age 7 he was singing at church's and playing the trombone at age 14. He continued singing in quartets all his life traveling throughout The United States. He had a lifetime membership with the Barbershop Quartet, singing with them for 67 years. He sang for President Eisenhower twice, the Don Ho show in Hawaii, and the Joey Bishop T.V. show.
Bruce and his wife Betty were owners/operators of Hemet Trailer Supply for 18 years and also B&B RV service and worked in that industry for over 27 years, they also managed the Mt. Valley RV park, and later retired to enjoy some travel time together in their motor home. Bruce served active duty in the Navy for 8 years.
He was the past president of the Junior Chamber of Commerce in Duarte, Ca; past president of S.P.E.B.S.Q.S.A. Inc. Riverside, Past president at Trinity Lutheran Church Congregation, past president of the Hemet-San Jacinto Noon Exchange Club, Past District President of the California/Nevada Exchange Clubs, building several new ones.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 63 years, Betty Maxey of Hemet, Ca; son, David Bruce Maxey (Donna) of Tigard, Or. Daughter, Kathy Forcier (Chris), brother, Gale Maxey (Betty) of Boise, Idaho, 4 grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made in his honor to the church building fund.
