He attended schools in Colton, California, graduating from Colton Union High School in 1956.
He graduated from Brigham Young University with a Bachelor of Science in Bacteriology and was a licensed Medical Technologist in California.
He married Karen Jean Benfell on September 14, 1959 and they have been married 64 years. They are the parents of five children, Ronald Jr., Brent, Christopher, Wendy Gardner, and Chad.
Ron and Karen have 23 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren and 3 more are expected this year.
Ron was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, John and sister-in-law, Joan, and a grandson, Colton and a granddaughter Kara Mae. He is also survived by a niece and nephews, Jana Babbitt, Josh Doty, Jason Doty, and a cousin, Mark Norman Doty.
