My Mom always felt that life is best lived to its fullest. She did just that. Literally a Coal Miner's Daughter born 10-25-1931 in Highcoal, West Virginia to Clyde (Pop) and Edith Peale, the second child, with an older brother Robert Peale (deceased).
Mom passed away 4-28-2023 at her Hemet, Ca home of 60 years. Married three times, first to my Dad Tano (Tom) Ortiz, on 9-6-47 whom she later divorced, but remained “family” and close friend. And sat bedside at his passing 8-11-1998. Second to Walter Cornelius King, affectionately known as “Bud King” with whom she started King Sign Company in 1962. He passed 2-29-1980. Thirdly, Harold “Bud” Fennimore Newberry until his demise 5-24-2000. Two Buds and a Rose.
Not your normal Grandma, Mom was a Pilot, owned her own Cessna, had her own C-45 Electrical Sign Contractors License. Mom was a world traveler, with little room for more entry stamps. China, Vietnam, Bali, Singapore, France, England, Netherlands, Spain, Italy, Morocco, Egypt and the list went on and on. She always had a thirst for adventure, and made friends with all that she met.
A grade school education of working class parents, she went far beyond the limited formal classroom time. Educated in life, who else would employ we College educated?
Active up to the moment of her death, Mom played Bingo three times a week, spent time and money at the local Soboba Casino, which will probably be impoverished after her demise.
Her daughter, Vicky Woody, survived her by eight days 5-6-2023. She believed no parent should survive their child. I believe she died of a broken heart, and did not wish to outlive my sister.
Left behind myself, her son Bruce W. Ortiz, grandson Jeff Ortiz, granddaughters Courtney (Court) Lopez, Kimberly Hyde, great grandchildren Conner Hyde, Natalie Sanden and Heather Berns, though not by blood, considered as a granddaughter. Surviving Nieces, Patty Johnson, Barb Madison, nephews, Jim Peale, Clyde (Butch) Peale. I simply could not list all of her friends. She touched many lives, and was loved by all.
Embraced for Eternity….
