Ruth Liggett, 89 of San Jacinto, California passed away on Monday, November 7, 2011, at Christmas Cottage in Hemet, California. Born Sunday, October 1, 1922 in Billings, Montana, she was the daughter of the late Ernest Jukes and the late Minnie Mitchell Jukes. Ruth moved with her parents to Visalia when she was 10 months old. Ruth lived in Visalia around 50 years, before moving to Grover Beach. She was the wife of the late John Liggett for 62 years. Ruth loved to play card games like pinochle and hearts with her late husband "Johnny" and all her family. She liked to play badminton along with many other outdoor games. While living in Visalia, Ruth, along with Johnny, operated a poodle grooming business, and with their dogs, entered them in shows around California. Ruth and Johnny then continued on poodle grooming while they lived in Grover Beach for over 30 years, where she loved to walk along the beach. Walking was one of her passions. Family would come to visit, she would line them up in the garage with sleeping bags and they would enjoy the beach, family time, walking to town, along with the beach. Ruth was an avid gardener, canning the fruit she grew. She was an excellent seamstress, making doll clothes for the grand children and nieces. Ruth and John eventually moved to San Jacinto, CA and after John past away, attended Daybreak Adult Day Services in San Jacinto for the past 5 years. She formed some very meaningful friendships while she was there. She was known as the "Hat Lady", as she would wear different, colorful flowers, attached to her hat, so these would match her different outfits. While there, she enjoyed drinking coffee with her friends, along with playing board games, bingo, and cards. She has a collection of tea cups & saucers, along with salt and pepper shakers gathered during her travels here and there. These were very important to her.
